I’m sorry, Dave – I can’t do that…

Last week, while running a dungeon on World of Warcraft, the computer started doing the whole flickering black screen of death/freezing thing.

By the weekend, my Nvidia GT 9800 graphics card was dead in the box. I spent a couple of days working on my netbook until Bahamut suggested that I try removing the defunct card and using the onboard video processor on the main motherboard of the Juicebox computer. This worked! Thus, I was able to resume working on the big computer. (Also, it turns out that the basic video processor on the Dell is plenty to run World of Warcraft. It is, of course, useless for playing games like Fallen Earth and Dragon Age: Origins. BOOoooOOoo!)

The card is a few months past the warranty expiration, naturally. So, I’ll be picking up a new card – to the tune of $100 or so – just as soon as the bank account allows.

Then maybe I can get back into Dragon Age again!

Or, y’know, Mass Effect 2. It’s just days away. My hands are only twitching a little.
